Karl Blazevic, a member of the RC Groups Aerial Photography Forum, has designed an electric plane purposed-built for aerial photography with the Aiptek SD digital camera.  Karl named the craft "Egret".  Karl has offered his design in DXF format free, but Karl retains copyright and other other rights.  Note the sparse rib set to save weight.

Specifications

Span: 64"  Area: 566 square inches
Est. wt: 20 oz Wing Loading : 5.1 oz/square foot
Aspect Ratio: 7.2 to 1    Airfoil: modified E-193
Power: geared 300-400 class  Prop: 9x4.7
Control: Rud/Elev/Thr/Shutter Payload: 3 oz max

Notes:  GP S400 3:1 gearbox on a MiniAC 1215/20 brushless.  Estimated 60-70 watts to the prop.

The 1215/20 motor likes higher voltage, in the 3s lipo range.   With a motor that uses lower voltage, a 2s2p or even -3p pack would be lighter and/or longer duration than the existing 7 oz. 9 cell NiMHs.

The wing is a traditional construction, using a D-tube, shear web design. By using minimal wood sizes and carbon fiber tape on the spar caps, the strength-to-weight is good. At 5 oz covered, figure ~6 oz wing weight with a center span flap & servo.
